Date: March 24, 2008 7:22 AM Name: Ann Prudhomme Comment: My neighbor and I will be driving from Plano, Texas, with our two dogs...to the West Coast and on to Washington State. If at all possible, we will be coming to your town of Lind. I love the Train email. I am one of those 73 year olds that try to run the train or at least ride in front. My 75 year old friend, widows we are, and our dogs have covered Alaska, Hawaii, Canada and most of the States in my 2000 Honda Odyssey. What a wonderful time we have had and met the most unique and helpful people. Why anyone would want to travel foreign is beyond me. After this trip, we have 4 states yet to visit. Looking forward to our trip to Lind. You people must come to Texas. |

Date: January 02, 2008 6:46 PM Name: Mitch & Debbie Starring Comment: Just a note to everyone involved in creating and maintaining the Lind web site. We appreciate all of your hard work. We refer our family members from in and out of state to the site to check out the events of Lind. We especially enjoy looking back on the pictures of the parades and the derby. It is great for our family to e able to view our kids and grandkids participating in Lind's local events. Especially when they cannot be there with us to attend. Mitch and I check the site regularly to see what is new and happening in our town. We have received nothing by positive feedback from our family and friends that have viewed the site. Keep up the great work and know that your time and effort is very much appreciated. Sincerely, Mitch and Debbie Starring |

Date: December 16, 2007 10:29 AM Name: Gary Klososky Comment: This is by far the most interesting, best put together site, with THE BEST MUSIC, I've ever been in! I was born in S. Dakota, moved to Tacoma, Wash. with my Mother and Brother after my Father died when I was 8 months old. I spent the first 9 years of my life there and have great memories of Washington, but have never been back. I have no idea where "Lind" is, but plan to look it up in my atlas and visit it and Tacoma within the next few years. I retired from General Motors a few years ago after working for them for 35 years and live in W. Bloomfield, Michigan, about 20 miles NW of Detroit. Again, we think your site is great and plan to find and download the music you've used, for our listening enjoyment. I'll be visiting your site again for sure! Keep up the good work. |
|
Date: December 8, 2007 7:21 AM Name: Barbara Hufford Comment: Hey out there in Washington! A friend sent me the link to your site and I love it....keep up the good work. It's so nice to see p9ositive stuff about life that so many people seem to miss. I'm in Pennsylvania where there is also a lot of wonderful history and, being a "train buff", I especially enjoyed the Train of Life. The weather here is great - snow on the ground (although not enough to snowmobile yet). But cold enough to "cozy" up next to the fire with a good book! Again, your site is great! Loved the "time piece" - it's awesome. Have a great holiday, Best Wishes! Barb from PA |

Date: November 25, 2007 8:10 AM Name: Kenny Bumgarner Comment: I spent some time in Lind as a boy -- staying with my aunts and uncles, John and Eunice Shimek and Vern and Ruth Reeve. They are buried in the Lind Cemetery. The Shimek's daughter's husband, Mel Schrader, used to own and operate the Chevron Station. Jack Shimek's boy, Randy, still runs the family farm southwest of town and the Roberta Shimek Maier farm is rented out. My mother, Florence Howton, was from Kahlotus and Eunice and Ruth were her sisters. The Howton homestead was near Delight. We used to have an annual reunion in the park, but now it's held down along the Columbia in Kennewick. It was nice to see pictures of the town although they are before my time -- the 40's and 50's. Kenny (Howton) Bumgarner |

That way, if the sound doesn't automatically start, the receiver can open the midi file manually...OK? Thanks again. Best wishes from Australia. Adrian |

I am also a webmaster and while I lack the creative genius you displayed I can appreciate what you did more than perhaps the average viewer. We retired in June of 1000, took our sailboat out the Golden Gate, turned left and sailed the West Coast of Mexico for four years. Then we took a bus to Tucson and purchased a motor home and have been touring the US. Oh yes, we flew to New Zealand for four weeks, then Australia for three weeks and the 2005 Christmas holidays with friends we had met in Mexico and then spent three weeks in Thailand. We are currently parked next to Sacramento River and life is good. I think we are driving the train (actually it comes by about 300 years away several times a day). Rich and Donna |

Date: September 27, 2007 8:44 AM Name: Jim & Stella Bishop Comment: Lind, WA, congratulations on a wonderful web page. Your community is exemplary to those wishing to see what the good life is all about. After viewing the entire site this morning I could sum it all up with just a few words: "AMERICA AT ITS VERY BEST!". I live in a small community myself in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and enjoy the small town camaraderie. Your community brings out the very best in people, a treasurer that most of our population today, unfortunately, does not enjoy. You folks are very fortunate to be able to live the true American dream in an atmosphere of love for your neighbor, community, and Country, an example for others to follow. Congratulations, and may the Lord continue to richly bless each and every one of you. Warm regards to all, Jim & Stella Bishop Saint Ignace, Michigan |

Date: September 18, 2007 12:44 PM Name: Newt McKenna Comment: This is a small mountain community. The only incorporated town is Sonora, CA. There are two Lions clubs in Sonora. The Sonora Lions (I am a member) and the Sonora Mountain Lions. The Sonora Lions celebrated their 85th year of Lionism this year. Reading what your club does looked like old home wee for our club. We are having our annual Lobster dinner on October 15. We fly live lobsters in from Maine and prepare them for the diners as they arrive. We generally serve about 300 dinners. It is a great fund raiser. I enjoyed your train trip. I am 90 years old and still riding on the cow catcher. |

My late husband and I lived in Salem, Oregon for 8 years and we traveled around Wash. some and we loved it out t here. We moved back to Minn. Both had health problems and decided to move back here to be near our families. I love small towns where everybody knows everybody. It is important for the smaller towns to teach the children what family and friends are all about. Children that are raised in smaller communities have better morals and better work ethics...will be visiting Lind website more often. Thanks again. Toby |

Date: September 11, 2007 7:47 PM Name: Melchior Kulesa Comment: Where in the world is Lind, WA? I had lived in the Seattle area for over 40 years and thought I knew the state. But I'm sure it is a great place like the rest of the state. Now that I know where you are I'll wave from 35,000 feet on my way to Seattle in a few weeks. I moved back to MA 14 years ago but have not forgotten and think of WA every day. Guess it is too large to know every place. Anyway, am pleased to have received the "Train of Life". Three different friends sent it to me within 2 days. Do you know anyone in Hatfield, MA? When I was growing up there was a Englehart family there. Very best wishes, Mel |

Date: September 10, 2007 10:35 AM Name: Tom Cusker Comment: I was just forwarded your train of life link and think it is great. While there I went to your home page and took a visit of your town. I think it is just great. I grew up in a small town in Northern Illinois near the Wisconsin border. Your town reminds me a lot of my home town. I just returned home for my 40 year high school class reunion and see that our little town is much like yours. Hardly anyone was around just prior to the homecoming parade but 10 minutes before start time everyone was either in the parade or lining the streets to watch. LOL I think it is great how you feel and publicize your town. I have since left Illinois and now live in another small town in Central Alabama just outside of Birmingham. The name of the town is Helena Alabama. They too are very proud of their long heritage and history. Small towns are just great. The reason I was sent the Train of Life link is I am into model railroading and it sort fits what we do. Since receiving the link I have forwarded it on to our 25 club members so that they may enjoy it also. Looking at the town history and pictures (before and current) reminds me of the type of towns we build on our club model train layout. It is so strange ….. whether you are in Illinois, Alabama or Washington… We are all so much the same in this great country. You can look at pictures of the town or a model and say… That is my home town. Best wishes to you and your town and thanks for putting out such a great WEB site. Tom Cusker, Helena, Alabama |

If you know the song please advise me and I will get it to him: "At the end is shown Uncle Sam on the drums, the Democrat Donkey and Republican Elephant, Bill Clinton on sax and Newt Gingrich with the guitar. I received an email years ago with this outfit playing a song and singing about Clinton, Hillary, Gore, and his old lady. Somehow it got deleted and I have written most everyone if they saved it and could return it to me." Thanks. Charley from Nashville, TN (Response: Anybody out there have this in their computer? Date: Sepember 04, 2007 3:45 PM Name: RAGS (Robert Anthony Gomes Sr.) Comment: I think your site is wonderful. I have enjoyed it and I enjoy the music in the background. I was a mobile disk jockey for many years and I love music. I don't know how long I was looking for the song and the program that I got from someone some time ago, but I had my computer crash and lost it. It was called Train of Life, but it was different than yours. It has lyrics to it, it was the voice of Willie Nelson and a female...I can't remember her name. I would give almost anything to get it back...it brought tears to my eyes. But, once again, let me say your site is very interesting...especially when you're my age. A few more months and I will be 76 and I am still in good health and have had a good life and many more years to come (I hope)...laugh out loud. Thanks again! Robert Anthony Gomes Sr. Opinion: Excellent |

That was so nice of you to respond to me. Thank you. I will go check out the google thing and hopefully can figure out how to get some midi files. Your site was a huge hit with so many people this weekend because I know that all by myself along with my family and friends, we checked everything out and then, of course, we all love it and passed it on to everyone else on our address book. We love clean wholesome sites like yours. Most of us are in our late 50's and early 60's to retired so we LOVE sites like yours. I teach at a Catholic college here in NH and it's all seniors who love to learn anything and everything! Our motto is "Rise...where curiosity never retires". Rise stands for "River Institute for Senior Education". It's so much fun and keeps us all young! Grandma L. in New Hampshire |

Date: September 02, 2007 3:07 PM Name: Carole Tan Subject: Greetings from Wiltshire England Comment: A friend of Mine sent me your Train of Life and this led me to the Lind website. What a wonderful site it is, a tribute to the spirit of the pioneers who founded your town of Lind and a real insight into Small Town America and what this really mean - the people and the community and what they believe in. I live in a Country Town, too, it's called Wootton Bassett and lies in the Northern part of the County of Wiltshire in the West of England. London is 100 miles up the motorway (M4) that's traveling east and the City Port of Bristol is 30 miles down the motorway traveling west, one then goes over the River Severn into Wales. It's a little bit older than your town...we are listed in the Doomsday book - 1066 and all that! I thought you might like to have a browse through the town website http://www.woottonbassett.gov.uk/index.asp and get an idea of what we are about. We have a big responsibility as a community to preserve the old buildings and history of this town and bring them a new lease of life so they can continue to be used. Our old brewery is such a project and this is what we would like to achieve with it http://www.freewebs.com/beaufortvision/ While we may be different in many ways I think we do share the same love of country, town and countryside as well as the same strong community values and spirit as you do. I hope you enjoy taking a look a us as much as I have enjoyed looking and learning about your Town. I am certainly proud to have met you Lind, may your grow and prosper! Carole Tan, ex Town Councillor of Wootton Bassett |

Date: 8/30/07 7:15 PM Name: Pat Walls Comment: I received it from a friend and walked through your website...brought back some good memories. I grew up in Spokane and used to spend much of the summers in Moses Lake with an aunt and uncle. They both worked for the Milwaukee railroad. Used to get rides on the local runs in the farm and agriculture areas. Places like Lind, Tarkio (maybe Tokia or something like that) and other towns in that area were part of the route(s). That was 50 to 55 years ago. We usually go to Spokane every summer and occasionally to Seattle, which we did last summer...over on I-90 via Ritzville and Moses Lake, and returned on a back road route to Lewiston, ID. Went through a lot of small farming towns from Vantage to the north edge of the Palouse country. I wanted you to know I enjoyed the site. Feel free to visit a not too active (this year) site www.wallsracing.com . Also a nice weather station here that you can access via a push button on the home page...at least if you have ever been curious about the weather in Flower Mound, TX...just a few miles north of the Dallas-Ft. Worth airport. The weather instruments are live in real time...they update about every 6-10 seconds. Regards, Pat |

Date: June 7, 2007 11:32 AM Name: Carol Lind Comment: Hello all, Having married a Lind in '91, I feel a special bond to the town and especially the demolition derby. While my husband's family is from Missouri, we've both been drawn westward toward mountains, open spaces, and possibly one day a town that bears the family name. Who knows, maybe we're following the dream of a distant relative. Enjoy your festive derby day. I salute your creative spirit....one Lind to another. Sincerely, Carol Lind, DVM - Gilbert, AZ |

I am hoping to see the action this year...please send the DVD to my brother. We are trying to go to the event, but just in case we don't get it together, we can at least watch the DVD. I loved the history page and the old photographs, the vet flags and the tribute to 9-11! Wow! I so admire small towns who can put something like this together. Keep it going. Congratulations to the whole town. Wilma Santoyo, Battle Mountain, Nevada |
