And again, thanks for the hospitality and the great event. We will be there next year. (Webmaster note: Dave is a semi-pro photographer who took many photos during the Derby and has offered them for our pages.) |

I still like it very much. It has kept the small town atmosphere and spirit. It is just north of Austin, TX...the capitol. It is very different than Austin though. Thanks again. Gerry |

Re the Train of Life: back in the mid 1980s there was a very similar piece that appeared in "Dear Abby." Although the wording was somewhat different, the message was the same. It essentially said that it's not the destination that's important, but rather the journey itself. Regards, |

Date: May 13, 2008 7:35 PM Name: Chris Wolter - Beenleigh, Queensland, Australia Comment: Hi from Oz. Received an email with the Train of Life and, of course, opened it. Then spent nearly 2 hours browsing the Lind site. What a lovely place it looks. I love the clock which follows my mouse around and its in my local time and date, too. I also live in what was once a small country town, Beenleigh in Queensland, Australia. When I first came here in 1970 there were 3 - 4 main streets, with old Queenslander homes. Now we take up about 10 square miles and still going. I used to sit in my office and say g'day to everyone who passed by because I knew them. Now I would not know 1 in 50. We are situated about 40 klm from Brisbane one way and 20klm from Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. Type "Beenleigh Historical Village" in Google search and come have a look at our past. Kind regards, |

April 18, 2008 7:35 AM Name: Mary Kathryn down here in New Orleans Comment: Thanks for your time and effort for this enjoyable experience. The Train...my daughter says "All Aboard" when leaving the house and the little one, early on knew it was time to leave...it always made leaving the house an adventure. Now, little one is 2-1/2. When Mom says ALL ABOARD now, Mia says "come on Granny, the train's leaving the station." And off we go on another adventure, strapped to the front of the engine!!!. Need I say more, but Thank You. |

Whoever is the webmaster has put their heart and soul into its creation --- looking it over makes me say, "I would like to visit Lind, WA and that is a good possibility since if live in Vancouver, B.C. Thank you for including the Train of Life on the site...it was sent to me by email and I found it the best inspirational piece I have read in a long time...we receive so much 'stuff' sent along on email, but this is a beauty. As well the music is uplifting....I note it is "Wabash Cannonball" but do you happen to know whose version it is....would be interesting to also give them credit. The best wishes to Lind and hope to visit your town one day. |

Date: April 8, 2008 6:42 AM Name: Jerry Taylor, Mechanicsburg, PA Comment: You have a very interesting site. As an engineer on the former Conrail system for twenty engineer, I am writing you today to let you know that trains cannot be driven...there are no steering wheels. An engineer RUNS the locomotive, which in turn hauls the train. I just thought you might be interested in knowing this as you see this phrase other places you will think of my note to you. It is RUN the train instead of DRIVE the train...make sense? By the way, your site is wonderful. Keep up the good work. |

We refer our family members from in and out of state to the site to check out the events of Lind. We especially enjoy looking back on the pictures of the parades and the derby. It is great for our family to e able to view our kids and grandkids participating in Lind's local events. Especially when they cannot be there with us to attend. Mitch and I check the site regularly to see what is new and happening in our town. We have received nothing by positive feedback from our family and friends that have viewed the site. Keep up the great work and know that your time and effort is very much appreciated. Sincerely, Mitch and Debbie Starring |
