2010 Grand Marshal
|
The Lind Chamber of Commerce proudly announced this year's derby parade
Grand Marshal. Doug Wilson, anxious to accept the award was immediately
concerned about his band during Lind's annual weekend celebration. How
could they manage to march in the Grand Parade if he was in a buggy in
front of them? Didn't take long to make a plan. The band would follow
the buggy, where he could hopefully get a glimpse of them on corners!
After his ride of honor, Doug left the buggy to take his place beside
the band. One more trip through the parade route was okay with the
musicians and it was GREAT for him. Good job, Doug!
Doug has a 34 year career in the Lind school system, accepting his first
contract for the 1976-77 school year. Initially, Doug taught Pacific
Northwest history and geography. Eventually, Doug's music background and
his love for music led to a long career in that department. Through
years of collection, he acquired many instruments in the department
making it possible for any student to be able to participate in the
music program.
With great pride, the Lind Community has embraced a great music program,
enjoying very entertaining winter and spring concerts plus many marching
events in local parade activities. It has always filled the Lind
Community with pride when the Lind Bulldog Band participated in full
band uniform with their director by their side, always in a suit. |
