The weather was very threatening with dark black clouds seeming to hover over the arena throughout the entire car derby. Fortunately, there were only about 40 drops of rain, which evaporated before they hit the ground! Farms 3 miles west of the arena, however, were drenched with 1½ inches of rain in a matter of minutes. (We get a little nervous when the thunder rolls and there are lightening strikes over the arena, especially with a huge crowd sitting on metal bleachers!!)  

The crowd was the biggest yet and everyone enjoyed the 5^th annual Car/Race and Derby. 37 cars entered the events with Zach Dampier of Moses Lake, WA winning first place, Nick Marchand, Marlin, WA and Bob Dampier of Moses Lake, WA won 2^nd and 3^rd respectively.

As always, the action was thrilling with many heart-stopping crashes. One car in particular, tried to get curbside help as he nearly made it into the beer garden, only stopped by the concrete barrier. Also, a spectacular roll by Andy Hilzer drew great reviews from an appreciative crowd. Fortunately, there were no injuries. We're going to show you this event FIRST....really GREAT!

 And the show isn't all cars and dirt! One of the 'headliners' for the event is Arena Director, Dick Hemore, who flags the race/demolition derby always dodging injury. (And how does he keep that blue tuxedo so clean?) Thanks, Dick, for adding pizzaz to the derby! Also, thanks to Eric Lund and Gary Pierce for a job well done!
